Amazon Hiring Event

Updated: Sep 18, 2020

What had happened at Amazon in Jacksonville during their pre-hiring event on September 16, 2020 was, remarkably, an exciting experience. There was a long queue of applicants, who had lined up and underwent the pre-hire process. It was observed that applicants are aware about the 6-foot away distance, and had their mask on during the whole process. There seemed to be discipline and respect with regard to the rules and regulations imposed by Amazon management.

I was not so sure how many was the number of applicants in the row and those expected to show up. I showed up earlier than my 11:30 a.m. appointment. The line was quite long that almost occupied the right side of the huge building and the front-side of the building at the Pecan Park Road on 25E bay.

CNBC reported Amazon is to hire 75,000 additional workers after it had filled more than 100,000 positions in March, to fulfill the demand and in preparation for the upcoming holidays at the end of this year.

"The prehire process was fast. The first step was to see the person-in-charge for the badges, and picture taking. Then there are three windows allocated to check for the Social Security and driver's license of the applicant. After verification, we were sent for the drug test."
